Description
This documentary traces over six decades of the life of left-wing writer Xiao Jun, revealing the entanglement of literature and politics in twentieth-century China. Closely associated with Lu Xun and Xiao Hong, Xiao Jun remained intellectually independent and never joined the Party. Through rare interviews and archival footage, the film restores the voice of a writer who refused to bend. Directed by S. Louisa Wei, English and Chinese, 2022.
A 30-minute post-screening Q&A with the director will follow.
