Abstract

This interview gives a picture of a contemporary female film-maker Wei Shi Yu,who strives to innovation and ideological profundity. Golden Gate Girls and Havana Divas,the two recent works of Wei Shi Yu,are outstanding documentary features which show continuing concern about the history of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese,as well as Feminine Fortune of Chinese diaspora. The Feminine Perspective and the sedimentary feminism thoughts of theory that involved in the films benefit from the author’s steady academic accumulation and her clear female consciousness. These quality also identify with the filmmaker’s family history of Overseas Chinese and the cross-cultural experience she had. This interview with director Wei Shi Yu focus on her creative practice and academic experience,intends to take an insights into her exploration on bibliographic historical documentary film-making,from theory to methodology.
