Abstract

Urban regeneration has risen to prominence as an essential strategy for a multitude of cities across the globe in their quest to mitigate urban decay and foster sustainable development. To delve deeper into the evolution and trajectory of international scholarly discourse, this study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis encompassing 1,874 peer-reviewed articles spanning the period from 1990 to 2022. Key insights gleaned from this paper are as follows: i) A marked escalation in scholarly engagement has been observed in recent years, evidenced by an average annual output surpassing 200 publications since the advent of the 2020s; ii) The thematic spectrum of research is characterized by its expansiveness and multidisciplinary nature, indicative of the complex of urban regeneration; iii) The trend of interdisciplinary integration research is increasingly strengthening, yet there remains a need for continuous expansion and deepening. Our findings in this research may provide a certain reference for the conduct of future urban regeneration research work.
