Abstract
In modulated intensity signals generated by dichromatic interferograms from lubricating film in the flat-onflat contact, some characteristic target fringes can be found which correspond to constant film thickness. Based on optical flow calculation and dynamic time warping (DTW) technique, an algorithm was presented for tracking those target fringes in the 1-D modulated intensity signals, and then the on-line film thickness measurement was achieved. Under the condition of constant speed, this approach was validated by data comparison with previous off-line
measurement system. In addition, with the present approach, transient film thickness under triangular wave speeds was measured, and some lubrication behaviours that the change of film thickness lagging behind the speed were revealed.
