Abstract
Youth development oriented city is an important model in the process of new urbanization. Urban renewal needs to systematically integrate youth elements to meet the diversified needs of youth. Taking Haikou as a typical case, this study evaluates the demand mismatch and governance path of youth groups in urban renewal through questionnaire survey, GIS spatial analysis and field study. This study found that: (1) youth's needs showed the characteristics of "complex spatial functions, digitalized cultural experience and normalized policy participation", and 78.2% of the respondents believed that the existing renewal projects did not fully respond to their needs; (2) The lack of institutional participation, the imbalance of spatial resources allocation and the fracture between traditional culture and modern youth culture constitute three obstacles; (3) We need to build a governance framework of "policy guidance - Spatial Innovation- cultural resonance", and integrate youth participation through online download. The research results provide theoretical support and practical paradigm for youth friendly renewal in tropical coastal cities.
