Abstract
Legitimacy is a core topic in contemporary Chinese politics, and has been widely studied by Chinese and Western scholars. This article studies the views of Chinese intellectuals on political legitimacy in China, and juxtaposes these with that of Western scholarship. This article also analyses why Chinese scholars think differently from Western scholars on the issue of political legitimacy in China.
