Abstract
This paper aims to explore energy conservation potential based on the thermal adaptation study in the Chinese urban housing environment from occupants’ perspective. Through the field studies in Wuhan, one typical city in the Hot-summer and Cold-winter climatic zone, some relationship between thermal environment, adaption behavior and housing design has been drawn. Strategies of “flexibility” and “energy efficiency” are recommended which could contribute to building energy conservation addressing Chinese living habits under current housing development stage.
