Abstract
This article focuses on the so-called “auxiliary verb” from the perspective of making and using learner’s dictionaries of Chinese. There’s a great disparity observed between English auxiliary verbs and the Chinese ones and we should reconsider
the whole thing strictly based on Chinese facts. A comparison between three existing approaches leads us to a new approach which consists of two major categories and 16 sub-categories.
