ž變韻從長音型向融合型轉化進程初探: 以淇縣、封丘方言為例

This article analyzes the contrast shift from duration to segment in Z Rime change, fo- cusing on Qixian and Fengqiu dialects in central China Henan province. The research finding suggests that the length contrast might disappear first in those syllables without medial, then syllables possess- ing medial follow. Afterwards, the rime-changed syllables might still distinguish with the basic sylla- bles by vowel quality. At the last stage, the vowel quality contrast disappears as well and the rime- changed syllables take the same shape with the basic syllables.
