Workflow Analytics: Adding Science to Workflow Management

  • ZHAO, Jianliang Leon (Principal Investigator / Project Coordinator)

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Recently, research has been done on workflow analytics that promise to make workflow design more scientific by introducing analytical methods to the development of workflow models. The principle investigator (PI) has also been working in this area over the past few years in collaboration with colleagues. In particular, his work has led to two streams of research in workflow analytics, namely policy-driven workflow mapping and dataflow-based workflow design. In this project, the PI proposes to integrate the two streams of work into a more comprehensive approach by considering both dataflow and policy considerations as well as other aspects of workflow information. In particular, this project will focus on the management of workflow changes. The result of the proposed research will advance the research in workflow analytics by pushing the envelope of academic research closer to the needs of real world workflow applications.
