Variable-Rate Variable-Power MIMO Systems Using Double Directional Model over Mobile Channels

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

This project proposes a new channel modeling scheme for designing adaptive modulation with spatial-temporal power allocation for multi-antenna systems operating in distributed antenna system over mobile channels. The scheme defines a set of angles of departure (AOD) and angles of arrival (AOA) for the well-known double directional scattering model. The system will evaluate the lifetime of the scattering paths defined by the AOD and AOA. The scattering paths with “strong” and steady life are chosen for transmission, which have robust statistical properties for resource adaptation. Upon receiving the identification of the “strong” scattering paths, the transmitter is able to adapt the constellation and transmission in space and time. This new channel modeling not only can reduce the complexity in coding channel state information, but also can make full use of the best parts of the mobile channels for reliable transmission.
