Description

The popularity of BIM and the essential of openBIM standards in the collaborative project environment are the motivations of this CITF application. With the significant contribution from buildingSMART Korea, the fund is sought to organise a course that aims to strengthen students’ competencies in BIM innovation, interoperable data exchange and integration, and team collaboration. The ultimate goals are to enrich the current BIM education at CityU and promote openBIM in Hong Kong. To achieve the course aims, students will learn from three types of activities: 1) hands-on workshops, 2) technical seminars, and 3) university/company/site visits. Prior communications with the counterparts in South Korea are essential to design the course contents so that the gap of local BIM education can be filled. Thus, a course management team that consists of three CityU teaching staff is formed and one of them is a Korean with strong industrial and academic network in South Korea. During the course, students will participate hands-on workshops to learn BIM skills and data interoperability by using the latest software tools. Students will join the technical seminars and learn openBIM applications in live construction projects. Students will also visit construction sites and universities to realise cutting-edge construction technologies and innovative BIM researches in South Korea. After the course, students will submit a final report and a feedback form about their learning experiences. Students will also disseminate their achievements with the staff and students of the ACE Department of CityU by giving a presentation.
