Trial: Experimental Validations of Our Developed Tree Defect Detection Device Using Local Trees
Project: Research

Description
Abstract:Through my new application upon ITF – Public Sector Trial Scheme (PSTS), the newly developed prototype (from ITS/116/15) can be actually tried and practiced using real tree samples, with various types and sizes. The objective is to apply our newly developed prototype to monitor the structural health of tree using real tree samples that we can find in Hong Kong. The Architectural Services Department (ASD) will provide 12 trees involving 2 common species under ASD maintenance purview for field application using our developed prototype. The time frame of this PSTS project consists of 6-month field work plus 6-month analysis (i.e. 12 months in total). It is believed that our newly developed prototype can benefit Hong Kong society in a more effective way through a more effective monitoring device and proposed scheme. If the research is approved by ITF – Public Sector Trail Scheme, we will be able to increase the detection accuracy of our newly developed prototype (especially for the trees that we will validate) and it is envisioned that this research can enhance tree safety assessment significantly.Detail(s)
