Project Details

Description

Extensive research on job burnout (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced accomplishment) in the last 30 years has focused mainly on the negative aspects of employee well-being in the workplace. Some investigators have recently turned to examining the positive aspects of employee well-being such as job engagement, i.e., vigor, dedication, and absorption. The proposed study aims at integrating these streams of research within a unified theoretical framework to explain the antecedent conditions and their pathways to negative and positive consequences of job burnout and job engagement. Specifically, we test the moderating role of conservation and enhancement values in the effects of job demands and job resources on burnout and engagement, respectively. We further examine health and behavioral outcomes of burnout and engagement among working people.
