Description

Bone modelling and remodelling play an important role in bone functional adaptation and have potential application in the treatment of bone diseases. Recent research has showed that environmental factors such as the electrical field and magnetic field can obviously influence the bone modelling and remodelling process. However, theoretical study of the influence of environmental factors such as the electrical field and magnetic field on the cancellous bone modelling and remodelling process is very limited. Hence, the investigation of cancellous bone modelling and remodelling behaviour under the electromagnetoelastic field is needed.This project aims to propose a new theoretical model for cancellous bone modelling and remodelling under the coupled electromagnetoelastic field. Based on the derived theoretical model, the influences of mechanical, electrical, and magnetic loadings on the modelling and remodelling behaviour of cancellous bone are simulated and their potential applications in bone disease healing are analyzed.
