Description

Four LCs of the Faculty of Business, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Division of Building Science and Technology and Student Residence have been established in the past 18 months, to provide educational services for students outside the classroom where students can consult with peer tutors at scheduled times (on site/online) in the campus. These Language Clinics were set up with the support of funding from the Teaching Development Grant and the Dean of Student Learning, with top-up from the various Faculties and units on a project by project basis. Eighteen months into the operation, project funding for some of the earlier LCs is coming to an end, and the University is planning to institutionalize the LCs setup with recurrent funding, to provide a continued and better service for students with their remedial written language needs. This project aims to provide the transitional arrangements for the institutionalization of the individual LCs in the Faculties, Division and Student Residence. In addition to the existing LCs, the services will be expanded to include the School of Creative Media and the School of Law. To maintain the convenience to students, the LC 'branches' will continue to be located in the various Faculties and locations.
