Description

The Pu Rituals in Tsushimawas written in the eighteenth century by Japanese nativist Fujiwara Hironobu. With illustrations and detailed commentary, the volume focuses on the ancient future-divining ritual of pu. This study investigates the rites and rituals of pu from the perspective of Chinese oracle bone scripts research, and attempts to explore how the future divining culture of pu in ancient Japan had been influenced by that of pu in ancient China. The analysis is an attempt to shed new light on the long existing cultural exchanges between China and Japan.
