This project focuses on the development of synthetic strategies towards molecular precursors for the fabrication of luminophore-functionalized nanoparticles and self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). The design and preparation of organic and metal-organic precursor substrates that are suitable for attachment onto nanoparticles and SAMs will be undertaken. The development of synthetic methodologies for the coupling of luminophores onto the surfaces of SAMs and nanoparticles will also be pursued. The underlying objective of this project is to develop SAM-based luminescent nanomaterials with sensing applications.
