Description
Chiral halide perovskites have emerged as promising materials for spin-dependent optoelectronic applications because their structural asymmetry, together with spin-orbit coupling, can enable spin-selective charge transport. However, current studies mainly focus on low-dimensional organic-inorganic systems, where insulating organic components often hinder efficient carrier transport. This one-year seed project aims to develop a proof-of-concept platform based on lead-free chiral halide perovskite nanocrystals. Enantiopure chiral ligands will be employed to direct nanocrystal nucleation and growth, enabling controlled synthesis of lead-free chiral nanocrystals with tunable composition and morphology. Processable thin films with reduced ligand content will then be prepared to improve electronic coupling and carrier transport. The project will focus on three achievable goals, that is establishing a reliable synthetic route, fabricating chiral nanocrystal films, and obtaining preliminary evidence of spin-selective transport through structural, chiroptical, and initial spin-dependent electrical measurements. This study is expected to generate proof-of-concept results and structure- transport insights, providing a practical foundation for future research on lead-free chiral semiconductors for spin-related optoelectronic applications.
