Strategic Technologies for AI Data Centre Power Supply and Sustainable Energy Infrastructures

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

This project supports the establishment and operation of two research laboratories within the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) at the Toyo Mall branch campus. The laboratories focus on two strategic research areas: (1) AI‑Data Centre Technologies, and (2) Power Engineering for Sustainable Energy Supply. The project provides essential operational funding for lab staffing (an administrative officer, a lab director, and ideally a technical officer) and scholarships for EE students. Research efforts will address the reliability, efficiency, and resilience of power supply for AI data centres from both hardware (power electronics, grid integration) and software (AI‑based load prediction, energy management) perspectives. Expected outcomes include a sustainable lab infrastructure, trained personnel, and innovative solutions for optimal energy supply to AI data centres, thereby strengthening EE’s long‑term research capacity.
