Description

The search for green and economical renewable energy sources is one of the most important challenges facing scientists in the 21st century. One of the most promising sources of carbon neutral and renewable energy comes from the reduction of CO2 to generate various fuels, including CO, methanol or various hydrocarbons. Molecular catalysts based on earth abundant metal complexes are widely used for CO2 reduction. Although many of these catalysts are highly active, they are often unstable with low turnover numbers. In this project, we will anchor various iron, cobalt and copper complexes bearing quaterpyridine-type ligands onto various solid supports. Our goal is to design solid-supported catalysts with high activity and stability towards CO2 reduction.
