Description

The aims of the programme include assisting secondary school LS teachers in developing supervising skills to coach students to conduct enquiries studies; designing learning and teaching activities; extending the breadth of knowledge, depth of understanding and mastery of cross-disciplinary thinking in the context of the built environment and fostering the participants to acquire a critical sense to their urban environments through techniques of research and promoting social awareness and understanding of the urban lives. The development vehicles include a series of workshops and site visits through which participating teachers shall acquire the knowledge and skill to lead a team of their own students to carry out an investigatory project. The project involves selecting an area within the district where their schools locate and proposes appropriate urban design solution. The implementation vehicle for the project is a competition with winning entries to be displayed in exhibitions and a book for the project.
