Project Details

Description

Cognitive radio (CR) networks are promising in solving the increasing spectrum shortage problem. CR devices are mainly powered by energy-limited battery, so energy efficiency is essential for CR networks. Meanwhile, CR networks are vulnerable to attacks because of its dynamic nature. In this project, we will analyze the routing process of CR networks and address the factors that affect energy efficiency. Unlike normal design on energy efficient routing, we include security as one major factor to be addressed. The reason is because the energy constraints of CR networks open the door for new attack types. Therefore in this project, we will study how the network reacts when some CR nodes are attacked and how virus can spread among the nodes. These studies aim to design further on secure energy-efficient routing for CR networks.
