Description

Relaying is a useful technique to increase the capacity and reliability of a wireless system. In this project, we investigate how space-time codes can be combined with forwarding strategies so that a mobile node can effectively communicated with a base station via a layer of relay nodes. In particular, we focus on the use of orthogonal space-time block code and the amplify-and-forward method. The impact of power control on system performance will be addressed and an efficient power control rule will be proposed. We expect that when the transmit powers of relay nodes are properly chosen, the outage probability of the system can be significantly reduced, or equivalently, the outage rate of the system can be significantly increased.
