Description

This project aims at combining different multimedia elements with web technologies for teaching and learning. The project investigates Podcasting technology and its application on lectures and tutorial classes. There are several benefits for this project. Firstly, it can enhance the effectiveness of communication between lectures and students with multimedia support. Secondly, it can reduce the resources for saving teaching materials. Thirdly, it provided feasibility for lecturer to select different type of resource of the tutorial materials. Lastly, it helps the lecture 'portable' such that students can review the lecture materials once they get a computer with internet connection. Due to heavy work load and tight working schedule, many students at City University of Hong Kong may have difficulty to 'digest' the course materials. If the lectures or tutorials can be recorded and posted into the Internet, students can easily watch back their video archive from the web. This project aims to provide a solution by synchronizing video, audio and image file which are used in the teaching to achieve a Web Podcasting technology at web. In addition, the project targets to record Web Podcasting by XML technology and retrieving it later for editing and distribution of the lecture review in podcasting system for eLearning.
