Modeling Waveguides with Embedded Microcavities

  • LU, Ya Yan (Principal Investigator / Project Coordinator)

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Microcavities created by a point defect in a photonic crystal can be used to trap light. Creating a microcavity in an optical waveguide can lead to many useful applications. To design and optimize microcavities embedded in optical waveguides, efficient numerical methods are needed. The investigators intend to develop such a method based on the Dirichlet-to-Neumann formalism.
