Microplastic Pollution and Conservation of Horseshoe Crabs in Hong Kong

Microplastic pollution is becoming a global environmental problem because of its ubiquitous distribution and potential harmful effects on most of the organisms. The first marine microplastic pollution study was reported in 2015 and a number of studies on various aspects of this problem to both the marine and freshwater environment have been reported in the past few years. The present study will focus on the hydrophobic organic compounds adsorbed on microplastics in the marine environment and assess their potential risk to two horseshoe crab species in Hong Kong.
