Description

The proposed project will set up a special theme of Ocean and Maritime in SM3804 which is a 6-credit studio-based undergraduate course co-taught by the PI (Dr. Kening Zhu) and the Co-I (Dr. Tobias Klein). In this theme, we will work closely with the Hong Kong Maritime Museum (HKMM) and the Run Run Shaw Library of CityU with the prior-obtained agreement. Guest lectures will be arranged with the HKMM curators on the material and the fabrication process of making historical maritime vehicles and architectures. Students will be coordinated to document the museum artefacts using the technology of high-resolution photography and 3D scanning with the special permissions and arrangements, and use the documented information and materials as the bases for their new-media artistic projects. The student works will be exhibited in the HKMM and the Run Run Shaw Library of CityU. In addition, the selected student works will be recommended to be exhibited to the maritime museum in UK and US.
