Description

Under the context of climate challenges, there is an urgent need to reduce carbon emissions through environmental design strategies and technological innovations. Meanwhile, improving green building development in Hong Kong and GBA based on the regulation evolution will be one of the critical items. Hong Kong is the super contactor in the Greater Bay Area to provide green building technologies and act as the window todemonstrate international practice. One practical task is how to provide an open interdisciplinary platform to help Hong Kong industrial develop green building technology innovations and methodologies under national and international standards to optimize energy performance and achieve carbon neutrality. This research will investigate innovative green building technologies and sustainable design strategies, such as net-zero energy/carbon design, performance-based analysis, the GB standard comparison, and low-carbon technology development of HK and GBA green buildings. This research outcome will provide the data, reference cases, and preliminary pathway for improving professional practice, green building innovations, GB standard reinvention, and technical specifications, which will benefit Hong Kong and GBA low carbon built environment development.
