Intelligent and Sensory Teleoperation System for Modular Integrated Construction
DescriptionThe construction industry is facing various challenges, such as low productivity, labor shortages, and poor safety performance. Teleoperation technology is one promising solution to address those challenges for large-scale applications in future smart construction. However, implementing teleoperation technology on semi-structured construction sites remains challenging. To solve the existing problems, this project aims to investigate an intelligent and sensory teleoperation system for tower cranes for future smart modular integrated construction (MiC) in Hong Kong. The convergent research team and project activities are structured to achieve multiple convergent goals and deliverables, including 1) developing a sensory-enabled intelligent teleoperation interface for tower crane teleoperation; 2) developing a digital twin framework for muti-tower crane teleoperation management and on-site application. At the completion of the project, an adaptable and scalable teleoperation platform will be developed and serve as the foundation for future research and deployment of teleoperation in smart construction.
