Gender and Household Decision-Making in Urban China
DescriptionThis research will examine family decision making and spousal power in urban China. It will assess a family collectivism model. It will then propose a gender role complementarity thesis and a household budget constraint hypothesis. A mass survey and 200 in-depth interviews will be conducted in China to gather data for this project. Data analysis will examine whether urban women make more family decisions than their spouses. This research will contribute to research on household decision making and spousal power.
