Description
The University Grants Committee (UGC) exemplifies its support for the development of teaching and learning initiatives by continuing to allocate the Teaching Development Grant (TDG) among tertiary institutions. A total of close to 20 million has been allocated to the City University for this purpose for the period 2005-08, which has recently been extended to 2009. About 20 TDG projects have been completed (out of 60 projects) since 2005. To enhance the quality assurance process, this document proposes the evaluation of the final TDG reports to be undertaken with the engagement of experienced external reviewers. The purpose of which is to ensure clarity and consistency of the evaluation process for more effective and systematic final reporting to UGC. At the current stage, only the 20 completed projects will be sent to the external reviewers. The external reviewers will analyse the projects according to pre-set criteria and to assess whether the projects have helped fulfill the purpose of the TDG fund. The reviewers also need to identify evidence of effectiveness from the PIs’ self-evaluation reports, to attest to the success of the completed projects. A final report will be provided by the reviewers with assessment, in particular, of the impact of these projects on CityU’s teaching and learning practices.Detail(s)
