Education Software Development of Cloud System for Teaching Human Genomes

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The current state-of-the-arts human genome browser systems are designed for research purposes but not for teaching purposes (e.g. UCSC genome browser). It prohibits students from smooth learning. Based on the prototype system developed (outlined in Appendix), the PI’s team would like to build a cloud-based education system to enhance the students’ experience in human-genome-related courses, including PI’s own courses (CS4465: Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and GE2324: The Art and Science of Data) with 2 years of PI’s teaching experience, contributing to the Discovery-Enriched Curriculum (DEC) at CityU in the aspect of bioinformatics and human genetics.
