Description
This research aims at establishing a good fundamental understanding of the dye-dispersed polymer based self-written waveguide for alignment free and low-loss optical interconnection. Along with material characterization and process optimization, the researchers will design and fabricate some interconnect structures, which are essential for the fabrication of photonic components. The objectives and possible outcomes of this project are therefore as follows:sourcing and characterizing suitable dye and polymeric materials for the light induced self-written waveguide; anddesigning and fabricating alignment-free optical interconnect based low-loss photonic components.Alignment-free optical interconnects are badly needed for enhancing the manufacturing process of the photonics industry. Once the light induced self-written waveguide is developed on the dye-dispersed polymer material, different types of low-loss photonic products can be manufactured using the same concept.Detail(s)
