Description
Transdermal drug delivery offers a non-invasive route that bypasses hepatic first-pass metabolism, yet the stratum comeum remains a formidable barrier to macromolecular penetration. This project develops and validates a flexible, wearable ultrasonic patch that harnesses low-frequency sonophoresis to achieve controlled, site-specific delivery of pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical agents. The patch integrates piezoelectric transducer arrays on a biocompatible flexible substrate, conforming to complex facial curvatures while maintaining consistent acoustic output. Systematic evaluation will encompass ultrasonic performance (frequency stability, spatial uniformity, energy efficiency), efficacy (penetration depth >=:: 150 µm, quantified by fluorescence microscopy), and mechanical durability.
