Description
Nuclear and risk engineering programme (NRE) is established in CityU after Fukushima nuclear accident at 2011. Currently there are three different studies strings within NRE, which are nuclear engineering, risk engineering and medical physics. Although there is no nuclear power plant in Hong Kong, 25% of Hong Kong electricity consumption is supported from ShenZhen Daya Bay nuclear power plant, which is jointly operated by China Light and Power Co Ltd. (CLP) and China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN). Worth to note that not only CLP hires nuclear engineers in Hong Kong, there are other industries needs nuclear engineers as well. However all these job openings are not well known to students due to the lack of information. Since The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) established nuclear division recently, we would like to develop a mentorship program to offer our students solid connection to industrial supervisors, who can guide them to plan their career path as a nuclear engineer in Hong Kong and worldwide. This mentorship program will be included in MNE3107 and fulfilling HKIE Graduate Attributes (GA) number (f), (i), and (j).Detail(s)
