Developing target-based peptide drugs with broad antiviral spectrum

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

We will use this fund to train a PhD student to develop target-based antiviral drugs with broad antiviral activity.Virus infection causes millions' death and loss of billions of dollars annually. Our previously studies demonstrated that viruses take a variety of ways to damage innate immunity for their own survival and cause lethal deaths, while a human protein can target virus-induced inhibitory legend of IFNARl to protect the innate immunity from IFNARl degradation. We will develop novel peptides to target the virus-induced inhibitory ligand and restore human innate immunity as pan-antiviral drugs to treat respiratory infections that cau
