    Project Details

    Description

This project intends to engage in a trans-lingual comparative study of Chinese American literature in both Chinese and English. The project consists of three interrelated tasks:to write a critical book on the study of the major themes of Chinese American literature in both Chinese and English taken as a whole and seen comparatively, tentatively entitled:"China" and "Chinese" in America Reading Chinese American Literature in Chinese and English;to compile a comprehensive bibliography of Chinese American literature in Chinese and English, so as to lay a foundation for further research in the field;to translate and compile an Anthology of Chinese American Literature in English Translation from Chinese, so as to make available in English a hitherto much-neglected body of American literature. When completed, it will help to enhance a new interdisciplinary field of inquiry by bridging the gaps between American (literary) studies and Chinese (literary) studies.
