Basic Law Research from Comparative Perspective

This research will examine various theoretical and practical issues arising under the Basic Law of the HKSAR from the perspective of comparative constitutional law. One particular issue to be examined is a study of the future of “one country, two systems” policy in China through comparison with the ethnic minority autonomous system practiced in 5 ethnic autonomous regions in mainland China. Another issue which the principal intends to examine is national security issue in Hong Kong. The third issue to be researched is what aspects of the Basic Law should be amended. Given that challenging constitutional issues arise from time to time under Basic Law, the principal investigate may adjust the research plan according to needs.
