Description
To achieve activities such as business intelligence and business analytics, a corporation needs to build a data warehouse to aggregate the data from a variety of sources of homogeneous and heterogeneous database systems. Decision making and action must be proactive rather than reactive, and business intelligence must be provided for real-time business activity monitoring. The integration of distributed data sources is becoming increasingly important to enterprises that cooperate closely with their partners for e-commerce. Online analytical processing gives analysts and decision makers fast access to various materialized views from a data warehouse. However, many corporations may have internal business applications deployed on different platforms. There is no existing solution other than to develop an autonomous system for large enterprises. To achieve the query activities of business intelligence, a corporation needs to build a data warehouse on top of its middleware to aggregate data from various data sources of heterogeneous database systems. As Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a common standard of data representation on the Internet, online analytical processing needs to handle XML data on the World Wide Web. The XSL Transformations and XQuery (XML Query Language) can be used to process the XML data of different materialized forms for aggregation from an integrated XML data warehouse.Detail(s)
