Project Details

Description

This project is to develop a prototype of an advanced safety system to improve driving safety. The technologies of the safety system include sensing (acceleration and others), capturing and interfacing (video and audio), processing, analyzing and warning. The prototype will implement all major functions of the safety system and demonstrate the system's actual performance and practicability. The major function of the system is dangerous driving situation alerting. Other functions like automatic traffic accident reporting, rescue coordinating and vehicle tracking can also be easily provided if necessary. In terms of research and development, the focus of the project is placed on one key technique: it is to study the algorithms and associated techniques for collecting and analyzing vehicle acceleration data in order to rebuild vehicle running tracks and establish the patterns between the tracks and accident types/features. The system will prompt the driver of dangerous driving situations and provide voice-based suggestions. The system will focus on aspects of low cost and being reliable and produce innovative and affordable solutions for a wide range of acceptance in the industry.
