Project Details
Description
This project proposes an AI-assisted digital environment to support research project based students working in bioinformatics and molecular epidemiology. Key resources will be organized and shared using platforms like GitHub or similar. These tools will serve to document code, results, and workflows; update key reference materials; and facilitate project guidance.A collection of AI-generated video tutorials and online guides will be curated as the starting point for new students, providing self-paced orientation and practical help for typical research project challenges. The resource pool will cover essential steps such as data acquisition, workflow management, programming basics, and troubleshooting. Generative AI will assist in creating new content as students’ needs develop, and contributions from advanced students and staff will supplement coverage so content remains practical and current.Project documentation will be standardized through version-controlled templates and review protocols available on these platforms. Students will manage and update their reports, data, and analysis folders, improving visibility for supervisors and other students undertaking similar projects. Peer feedback and collaborative problem-solving will be encouraged to enhance project quality and efficiency.Students will be guided to maintain simple logs of challenges, solutions, and project milestones, with prompts included in the digital environment. Regular online Q&A sessions and short seminars will be scheduled, allowing students to consult with instructors and peers on technical and research-related hurdles. The project aims to improve resource availability, clarity of guidance, and overall project outcomes for research project based students.Materials, best practices, and student feedback will be shared within the department for future implementation and to help maintain up-to-date teaching approaches in bioinformatics and molecular epidemiology.
