Project Details
Description
This project aims to develop and demonstrate colorful photovoltaic (PV) facades utilizing advanced optical coating technology developed by CityUHK's R&D program. The coatings will transform traditional dark silicon PV panels into vibrant, colorful facades while maintaining high efficiency. By reflecting specific light bands to create colors and reflecting infrared light to reduce operating temperatures, the coatings enhance both aesthetics and performance. In collaboration with industry, PV panels (> 1 m2 each) in selected colors will be fabricated and installed on CityUHK's campus as a demonstration of Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV). This project aligns with CityUHK's sustainability goals by integrating renewable energy into campus infrastructure and showcasing innovative technologies to the public, industry, and policymakers, further establishing CityUHK as a leader in sustainable development.
