A Systematic Analysis of Quality Management Practices in Hong Kong Manufacturing Firms
Project: Research
Researcher(s)
Description
This project aims to conduct a systematic analysis of quality management practices in Hong Kong-owned manufacturing companies in mainland China to discover whether the Hong Kong/China manufacturing companies have reached the synthesis, alignment, and integration as suggested by the core theme of the new version of the US NMBQA framework. It will also aim to reveal where the missing links are. The analysis is based on the structural equation modelling (SEM) method. A conceptual model will be developed from available previous research related to the US quality award framework. Then the Hong Kong sample will be evaluated according to this conceptual model to identify the missing links in their quality management. The novelty of the project includes (1) the theme of synthesis, alignment, and integration, (2) a structural analysis method, namely, structure equation modelling, and (3) a timely selected topic on systematic issues of Chinese product quality. It is also perhaps the first time that the missing links in quality management process will be revealed from a systematic perspective.Detail(s)
