Description

Many of processes in the semiconductor packaging industry belong to the distributed parameter system that has a strong tempo-spatial nature. The fuzzy system is good at uncertainty processing, but unfortunately, its existing configuration is not inherently designed for a tempo-spatial process. The goal of this project is to develop a completely new type of fuzzy logic control (FLC) from the existing fuzzy structure and apply it to better control the difficult tempo-spatial processes in industry. Using a unique three-domain (3-D) fuzzy set (fuzz grade, time and space), the inherent 3-D processing features can be added into the existing configuration. Thus, this proposed "3-D FLC" system is able to handle both nonlinear uncertainties and the distributed variations. Design and tuning of this 3-D FLC system are expected to be slightly different from that of the traditional FLC system. Successful application of the proposed 3-D FLC to the selected industrial process will have a great impact on both academia and industry.
