Description

The growth of electronic commerce (e-commerce) and the emphasis on privacy have intensified the need to find a fast and secure cryptographic method. The use of chaotic maps for data encryption has been studied extensively in recent years. However, most of the maps are solely for encryption and suffer from the problems of low security and long encryption time. In this project, the researchers are going to develop an efficient chaotic cryptographic scheme that performs data encryption and authentication simultaneously. This scheme is based on iterating a chaotic map and the dynamic updating of a look-up table or codebook. The final look-up table, a by-product obtained from encryption, can be taken as the message authentication code (MAC) directly without extra computation. As a result, a secure and efficient chaotic cryptographic scheme can be obtained to encrypt large confidential files, with data integrity checking simultaneously, before transmission through public networks.
