A Cellular Automata Model for Dynamical Simulation of Graphite Sheets

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The proposed project aims to establish an efficient cellular automata (CA) algorithm for the dynamics analysis of grapheme sheets by linking the atomistic approach and the continuum method. The proposed CA model will use the Tersoff-Brenner’s many-body potential to describe the interaction between atoms, but the solution framework is based on the conventional continuum mechanics. Based on the proposed CA model, numerical simulation will be performed to report the natural frequencies, the mode shapes and vibration response of grapheme sheets with various aspect ratios.
