
Biography
Prof. Yumeng Hou is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Creative Media of CityUHK through the GRAP Scheme. She obtained her B.Eng degree in Digital Media Technology from Zhejiang University, China, an M.Sc. in Computer Science, and a Ph.D. from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.
Yumeng researches and experiments at the intersection of computation, visualization, digital curation, and cultural archives. Her work explores how the amalgamation of curatorial thinking with data science methods can enhance the preservation, transformation, and transmission of traditional practices and performances – often regarded as intangible cultural heritage – with a particular passion for traditional martial arts. She has published in leading journals and conference proceedings across the fields of digital humanities, heritage studies, and computational sciences, such as JOCCH, DSH, JDOC, JOHD, DHQ, IEEE VIS, and CG&A.
