Biography

Yuji Xu is pursuing her Ph.D. degree at the City University of Hong Kong. She graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a MA (Pass with distinction) in Modern Chinese Literature and Culture and an M.Phil. in Modern Chinese Intellectual & Political History in 2017 and 2020, respectively. Before venturing into Chinese historical studies, she received training in media and film studies from the Communication University of Zhejiang.

Her research focuses on the intellectual and cultural history of late imperial China, particularly, Chinese literati writings of Asia; the role of India played in the late Qing revolution; and the entanglement between Buddhism and revolution in modern China.
