Biography
Yi-Hui Christine Huang (Ph.D., University of Maryland) is Chair Professor of Communication and Media. She currently serves as Head of Department of Media and Communication. She previously served as Associate Dean of College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) and Director of City University of Hong Kong Press.
Prof. Huang's research areas include strategic communication, risk communication in health and technology, crisis communication, relationship management and conflict resolution, and cross-cultural communication. She has received multiple international research awards including 40 Top Papers and other commendations for research. Moreover, she received the 2012 Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award at CUHK and the Exemplary Teaching Award, Faculty of Social Science, CUHK, in 2012 and 2016.
She currently serves as Editor for Communication and the Public (ESCI) and Communication and Society (TSSCI). She also serves as Associate Editor for Journal of Emergency Management and Disaster Communications. In addition, she serves as an editorial board member for more than 10 major international SSCI journals, such as Journal of Communication, Journal of Public Relations Research, and Public Relations Review.
In the past decades, she has published more than 200 papers in top-tier journals and delivered 22 international keynotes and more than 100 conference presentations.
She also has been an active contributor to the academic and professional communities. For example, she served as the Vice President of the Chinese Communication Society of Taiwan.
